William Lafferty's plantation on was located New River
the mouth of Indian Creek,,on which William Lafferty built his Fort.He died in 1818.
His brother Steel,was killed by the indians in 1780.
The Lafferty Fort site became the homeplace of Dr. Thomas Fowler,who built a brick mansion there prior to the condemna tion of the land for the Bluestone Lake project in the late 1940's.
