| Notes for Joel DANIEL | ||||||||||||||||||
| DANIEL, JOEL Co. C Enlisted on 5/18/1863 in Wyoming County. AWOL from 12/15/1863 per 4/1/1864 roll. Previously served in Co. G. 2nd Virginia State Line. 69 Here is a small article on Joel Daniel that came from the Denzil Daniel Family Newsletter of November 1980. "During the latter years of his lengthy life of 89 years, "Uncle Joe", as he was affectionally called, moved to Posey (near present Saxon) where he lived in a house near the present Lillian Hurst Clay home. It was there that his life came to an end on May 10, 1920. Some neighbors made for him a homemade casket - which was the custom at that time - in which his remains were placed. Floyd Milam, a close friend and neighbor transported his remains to Bolt on his wagon, where he was buried by the side of his first wife in the Farmer Cemetery." The Families of Raleigh County provide the following information: The 1880 census lists the following children living with Joel and Fanny: Soloman 19 (m. Cindy Canterbury), Victoria 18 (m. R. L. McGraw of Wyoming County), Hugh 15 (m. Fannie Brooks), and James 5 (m. Minnie Worley). 72 Joel had at least 19 children73 Grave located N37 degrees 45.338' and W81 degrees 25.285'1 1870 Census:28 Precinct 8, Floyd County, Kentucky Entry 144 Daniels, Joel 39 Virginia Eliza 34 Virginia Nancy 10 Virginia Solomon 9 Virginia Victory 7 Virginia Huey 4 Virginia Lucinda 4/12 Kentucky 1910 Census20 Trap Hill District, Raleigh County, West Virginia sheet 23, dwelling 390, family 400 Daniel, Joel 79 Virginia Fannie M. 55 West Virginia Lizzie 17 West Virginia Pearl 11 West Virginia Smith, Josey 22 West Virginia Wayne 22 West Virginia | ||||||||||||||||||
